Nottefonda tells the story of Ciro, a man in disarray following the death of his wife. He wants to find whoever ran her over and killed her on the road at night. Every night. In this quest he has lost himself, any sense of time and the possibility of leading a normal life with his son Luigi, aged 13, a boy forced to grow up quickly to keep his father from descending into hell.
