Trondheimsreisen, which was a success in 2018, was a new film made from old film scenes. Now we follow up with Trondheim on film, a series of old films from the city, as the films were once presented to the public.
"Trondheim På Film" are three film programs that will be presented throughout the year. The first consists of Tram Ride Round Trondhjem (1908), which is the first known film from the city. Then follows Trondheim in sun and summer (ca. 1950), and Trondheim - a city in growth (1962). The films are exuberant depictions of time, and with today's gaze is full of humor.
All three films are subtle film stories that shed light on Trondheim's history and how the people who live in Trondheim like to tell about themselves.
As with Trondheimsreisen, Dag Hoel is the producer. He explains that the movies are presented and placed in a historical context by a narrator. The movies bring to life the city's cultural history to a wide audience. The primary goal of Trondheim on film is to take care of a piece of Trondheim's cultural heritage that has been in danger of being lost, as well as to engage the city's population to participate in the conversation about the city's development. But most important is to entertain the audience.
