Synopsis
The story of old Hana, who devoted her whole life to gardens, unfolds in front of the audience with very subtle narrative means. She designed them, fitted them, dealt with them, lived by them. Now she is old, sick, unable to move and feels like her life has shrunk and closed. However, Hana is not a whiny poor thing, she is a realistic woman with a sense of a certain kind of ironic humor, who can still outwit her very grown son. She sees quite clearly that nothing will meet her again in life. The opposite is true. A young girl in shabby sneakers enters Hana's life. Half wanderer, half responsible, half liar, half reliable, but definitely completely original, with a heart in the right place. At first, Hana somehow instinctively resists letting the girl live with her. Perhaps she suspects that she will not be able to absorb so much excitement at the end of her life. But Nina is so different that even in her typical way she "resists" Hana's attention at first and very soon her love. They will have many wonderful adventures together. In a wheelchair, Nina takes Hana to the forest for a trip and they camp there overnight, they escape from a posh cafe without paying... Nina is something of a breath of fresh air in Hana's life. And not only in hers. Hana's son František also falls in love with Nina. However, he is married and responsibility will prevail. Nina, as she herself points out, does not steal. She envelops the two with her presence and leaves as she appeared in the story and their lives. In the sneakers she pulled out of the trash can. Or maybe she bought them from Bata? Who knows! It is clear to everyone that it must be so. The highly imaginative and poetic script has a number of laugh-out-loud and unexpectedly comical situations and forces the jaded viewer to see life from other than usual perspectives.
