The FreeEssence clinic is a psychiatric facility built in an ancient fort, hidden in the mountains. It carries out cutting-edge studies and research on the human mind, led by the director of the clinic, Edgar, a young and brilliant doctor.
Edgar is away when a certain Bruno Villar, a patient suffering from delirium of identity, arrives at the freeEssence. Patients with this psychopathy commonly identify with historical or famous characters, real or abstract. Villar claims the identity of a certain Julius Vock, a name that says nothing to the doctors of the freeEssence.
The medical team initiates a long series of analyzes while also trying to retrieve information on both the patient and this Vock, thanks to investigations conducted by a friend, a policeman.
Who is Julius Vock? Did he ever exist? Is he the fruit of the patient's mind? What relationship did the two have?
The case becomes complicated when a man arrives at the clinic, Giuseppe Vincedomini, suffering from the same anomalous delusion of identity: he claims to be the real Dr. Julius Vock.
Now there are two subjects who claim to be the same, unknown, person.
