It is not the first case of this kind: apparently Jutta Reike is the fourth victim of a serial killer. Micha Oberländer and Hannah Zeiler find out that the victim doesn't correspond physically to the pattern of the other homicides. Is this the crime of a copycat? When a swimmer is run over brutally by a motorboat on the lake, a surprise is awaiting Zeiler and Oberländer: they find evidence in the car of the victim Dietrich Falkner, that he might be the sought-after serial killer. During a house search trophies of the four victims are found. Everything seems to fit, until Zeiler and Oberländer find out that the trophies of the fourth victim are false. Now it is obvious: there must be a second murderer, who not only killed Dietrich Falkner.
