Oh, the things people do for money...
In 1987, as the late great Jim Varney's career began to take off and the stigma of typecasting bore in, Southern-fried commercial makers Jerry Carden and John R. Cherry III began the typically exploitative process of doing whatever they could to further promote their brand. Thus, roughly around the same time the character of Ernest P. Worrell was all set to Go to Camp, he also hosted this gimmick contest video.
As dated as analog itself, WIN $10,000 (or, Hey Vern, Win $10,000, as it is known today, presumably to deter anyone from finding an active cash contest) is a series of close to 100 TV commercials, bloopers, and behind-the-scenes clips. (No, these aren't the same ones we've seen in the Ernest P. Worrell Film Festival, although they have a lot of the same writing.) Mr. Varney hosts the video, naturally, and periodically pops up in new footage to remind you you're supposed to be playing along in a contest.
As for the contest itself, well... that was 37 years ago... It's over now, duh! But originally, viewers were asked to count every instance of "Vern" and "KnoWhutIMean?" uttered or displayed from beginning to end. Not sure what the total was, though I have few doubts at least one of you will discover the answer.
